I tried just heating up a little pick, but just made a hot mess, sloppy uneven hole with burnt leather sticking out and cracks, so Amazon to the rescue. It may be slightly hard to use if you have very little hands, in that case you may find that the single punches you tap with a hammer may work better.

So get this thing, get the right hole size, line up placement, squeeze till I hear the click, release, still not all the way through, squeeze some more hear a louder click, I'm through but not clean twist a little, flip it go from the other side, done. It looks so good but it was too big. Yeah it takes some getting used to and you got to wiggle it around and make sure the piece of leather from the previous lunch is cleaned out, but at the end of the day, you get a nice clean hole that looks like the other ones on the belt and the belt fits, all for $7, which is much less than the cost of a new belt or 4 which is how many belts I had to put holes into.

This is a nice tool! This is one of those purchases you really need only once and then you wind up leaving it somewhere until a few years later when you need it again and remember you have it and can't remember where you put it, so you buy another one and after a couple of months you find the original one in your wife's sewing thread box, so you throw this one in there as well thinking you'll remember the next time you need it.
