However the story just didn't appeal that much, it felt like the book focussed too much on the idea of letters to read, rather than being driven more by the story. I saw a book with a similar set up when I was a child myself, and I've always loved little extras hidden on the pages of a picture book. It is a tale of friendship and also about asking for advice when you don’t know what to do. Overall it is a lovely book, a sweet tale, some good humour and a fun and different experience to a normal picture book.

I absolutely adored this book and believe that children will love it too. The story is a simple one. I also like the slight emotion towards the end and the fun adventure that Alex and his dragon get up to. He's not sure what to do with it so he writes letters to different people to ask them how to look after the dragon.

Every few pages feature an envelope made of thin card, stuck onto the page, and inside the envelope is a letter for kids to read. The letters are on thin card and some of them are colourful too. -Thanks to Walker Books for a free copy. One day, a boy called Alex finds a dragon in his house.
