Reading this felt like I was falling into the work of all-time greats like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett, but set in modern CA and touching on the everyday pressures many people are feeling. I initially read it through the Libby app, but enjoyed it so much that I set out to own a copy for myself.
This book was a pleasure to read. And a copy as a gift for a friend. I might even buy additional copies so everyone I know can read this book. Light From Uncommon Stars touches on serious issues race, gender identity, sexuality, fame/celebrity status, the pressures of success-- all with care & grace, while staying light and enjoyable the whole way through.
As for the story, the book is a great mix of sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and comedy.
