You will need 4 AA batteries for the battery pack that attaches to the waist band of whatever you will be wearing under your costume; fan is on the back of the costume. Every child knew exactly who my kid was dressed as (adults not so much.

Carry extra batteries around with you. He loves it! He was a big hit this Halloween! We were able to get it back together eventually.
