She’s tried several cocktail recipes with it and highly recommends the Sispresso martini one with Kahlua. It stands at 40% volume and reviewed at £25.

Now the important part, the taste. Taking the Sipsmith Sipspresso coffee gin bottle from its box was an experience in itself, the glass bottle was wax sealed and is embossed in the distillery name and a little advertising snippet at the rear and on the base it is inscribed with a Latin phrase, “Cygnus Inter Anates,” or “Swan Among Ducks” and displays a rather lovely image of a goose - possibly one for the bottle collectors! My niece loves flavoured gins, makes lots of her own, is a big fan of Sipsmith and loves coffee - so she was very excited to try this. As gin goes, we are a fairly mixed bag in this household, I have a preference for fruity gins, my wife prefers the more exotic tastes and our son likes a something a little spicy.

She also liked it added to flavoured coffee. I've had it with both tonic and lemonade and with both of them, it tastes great. A very interesting and indulgent limited edition offering from Sipsmith – we shall certainly try some of their other offerings. I really enjoy drinking it both neat with ice as well as with soda water depending on when I am drinking it.

Overall, I think we agree that this can depends on what you mix with it – cocktails went down better than straight mixes as it can be a little heavy without anything to temper it, in some cases it was described as sophisticated and in others a little overpowering – but every palate tends to have its own preferences hence trying with different blends and flavour mixers. Get it whilst you can !
