Hope so. I must admit I was quite excited when I was offered this book as I find James May quite the character and I’d just enjoyed watching Our Man in Japan. Curry night: chicken cheater masala, mint raita, tomato chutney, red lentil dahl, chapatis, lamb keema curry and fake indian rice pudding.

The book is written in the same chatty style which Mr May uses to present his programs, there’s no technical talk, everything is explained simply, from what you need in your kitchen to start your culinary journey to what is nice to have (and why it’s nice to have it). The book is full of glossy pictures of what actually seem a little too professional / chefy in my opinion, considering the raw-ease of the recipes inside. The great outdoors: spicy chicken kebabs, sticky buffalo wings, spicy lime prawns, cheeseburgers, char-grilled vegetables and broad bean and feta salad. It's a simple book with simple instructions and nice quality pictures.

He finishes with probably the most useful chapter of all- store cupboard saviours where he makes things with the tins/cans, dried things we all tend to keep a store of, if you don’t have a store cupboard don’t worry he starts the chapter by telling you what you should have in a store cupboard, here we have the wonders of “minging hot dogs”, sardines on toast, alphabet spaghetti on toast ( he adds pesto and Parmesan- he doesn’t just open a tin)What I took from this book that it was designed to install confidence into someone who wants to make something, be it a classic roast or a more adventurous curry dish. The only downside to this book is the way that it lists ingredients and what you need. Spongy things: jam roly poly, spotted pudding, custard and victoria sponge.

What could be easier than a spag Bol. will continue to go through the book and see what else I can make :)
