The hat is everything I expected it to be. The cone has a flexible wire to hold the shape up, despite a few wrinkles from packaging I could have worn this to a party straight from the mailbox.

:) I think that if you are going beyond that - LARP’ing in the rain for example - this probably would not hold up to a great deal of punishment for all that it is well-made for the price. Just for fun. !

The size & shape is right, thick felt material like craft felt at Hobby Lobby or walmart, in fact matches perfectly with the 5 yard bolt of smoke grey felt I bought to make a robe & cloak (since I found out Rubies Gandalf costume was a pathetic thin granny gown). It only loses 1 star because I would have preferred there not be the two large seams on the left and right sides of the brim. • Is good for keeping the sun out of one's eyes whilst gardening.
