My son is 18 months and loved playing with this, I think it will grow with him as he has colours and numbers. My 9-months old daughter enjoying pulling out the spikes, it practices her fingers which helps when picking up food. My daughter loves to put the spikes into the hedge hog- learning fine motor skills while it's fun The colours go with most things.

I just wish it had gone more rainbow like colours on the pines with numbers to add a level of learning as she gets older. My one-year-old is able to take out and put in all of the pieces on his own while refining his grasping skills.

They are made of a soft plastic or rubber so if she puts them in her mouth it should not hurt. This little hedgehog has it all! Learning Resources' Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog is an amazing toy that combines fun and learning in one package. As he gets older we will also be able to incorporate number identification.
