On a few occasions (he's seen a fox at the park), he's taken off and run this to its maximum length with a very hard stop, and on a couple of occasions, dragged it bouncing around the woods, with it whacking off tree trunks. The only negative, hence 4* is that there is about half a meter of leash that isn’t retractable and can’t be shortened. Also, just a preference of colour, but why does it have to he bright luminous yellow? Definately reccomend.

3) The Tape - its far strong than anything else I've experienced. It lasted 4 years of constant twice daily use. Other than this design problem, the rest of lead is fine, recoil is decent, small size is comfortable to hold and the 8m length does allow a lot more freedom.

Even with Lana chewing on it on the odd occasion its shown no sign of wear compared to the old lead. I've only got a relatively small dog (Patterdale), but he's got no road sense whatsoever, and likes to run off chasing anything that moves when we're out in the countryside.

I would however say that with the extra weight of the lead it is a lot jolt is more extreme than with say a 5m lead. A new one was needed. I bought the 10 metre one at Christmas and have just started using it. This gives means when you doggy decides to use all of the lead then yank, your grip is not compromised and helps soften the jolt.

Absolutely brilliant lead. This has been very useful. This has survived some serious abuse - hitting pavements, trees and being yanked with 10 stone of dog, held back by me, leaning back and bracing (16st). Definitely for smaller dogs / large cats.

To the product:-After my Briard has gotten bigger faster than expected, strangely my old lead snapped dispite her being 22kg and the lead being rated at 25kg. Taped 28 footers are a drag and the cord works for a small but rapid little dog.

BUT, I think this only happened because I left it to soak in water and bleach for a while to try clean off all the dirt that had ingrained into it over the years. Not as neat but I'd much prefer a great lead.
