I bought it for his birthday, and he was very happy about it! My kids, who have never been to Scotland, love it just as much as I do. I've included a photo of one hilarious paragraph from the first page of "Chaipter Ane: The Laddie Wha Lived" which describes the Dursleys. We are loving this Harry Potter book.

This is not a book filled with badly spelt English or just English with an accent but is a recognised language in it’s own right spoken throughout Scotland. It's a riot to read this out loud, which seems to be the only way we can read it around here.

The whole book is like that. Although these Germanic languages evolved alongside each other and are closely related, English speakers will have trouble understanding this book if they have no prior understanding of Scots as our language is phonetic and has unique vocabulary. This translation is hilarious and filled with Scottish humour. A must read for Scots speakers or learners.
The translator did a fantastic job. :) I lived in Scotland for a wee bit 25 years ago and I'm pleasantly surprised how quickly I caught onto the accent again.
