The included Wraith cooler runs very quietly only becoming noticeable if your working the CPU hard (say encoding video with Handbrake) and even then not annoyingly so. I managed to pick one up at £310, but anywhere around the £325 mark is still a great price for this processor (in December 2021). As it goes, temps are actually better than the older 3600 so I think the older stock cooler would have done the job.

I've crossed over from Intel, having had an Intel CPU for the last 20 years, and wow, AMD aren't the cheap and cheerful alternative anymore. Temperature: It's worth noting that this CPU can run a bit warm, with temperatures fluctuating between 40-60 degrees Celsius under load. Make sure you have a decent cooler.

And it makes for a far more cost effective option compared to AM4s Halo chip the 5800x3D. It's a phenomenal chip and equally fantastic upgrade. If you want something a touch cheaper, go for the 5600X instead, you'll lose no performance in gaming, and you'll save £50! The whole machine feels a lot snappier than before, more so than I expected.

That said, only buy it if it matches your price-point. Overall: The AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Processor is a true marvel of technology, offering an incredible blend of power and efficiency.

7 GHz Max Boost speed is very impressive. Compatibility: It's important to ensure your motherboard is compatible with this CPU, as it requires an AM4 socket and a BIOS update on some motherboards to work at its full potential.

AMD have designed a really high performance, but clever processor that adapts to the use and tries to boost automatically to give you the best performance regardless of whether you're using just one core right up to full 8-core workloads. Software I run (Ableton + Games) are all more responsive, most games I`m getting noticeable increase in framerates. ! Yeah it may be a 2 year old APU but if you are coming as I was from a much older and weedier APU you will be very happy I think with the same.

To say this is night and day over the APU in the 2016 AMD PC build it has replaced is an understatement. An 8-core 16-thread Zen 3 champion for less than your typical R5 chip. Super chuffed with this, reckon I`ve got another 4-5 years on this build now, probably longer! Well, no worries on that front at all, as you can see from the pictured CPUBenchmark results, the upgrade in performance is significant.
