Always plug it on the wall socket, NO extension lead. For someone who spends time gaming and occasionally streaming, this is a life saver Sometimes electrically noisy devices, such as electric drills or motors on washing machines or tumble dryers, will cause interference on the mains wiring, compromising the capabilities of powerline units. The android app reports a bandwidth of around 500Mbps between the two units which I'm pretty pleased with, considering it's going over outdoor electricity cables to the garage and back.

This particular unit is an extension unit for an existing powerline configuration. Im feeling disappointed about speed but it is not related to the product, its related to powerline cable quality. I had previously tried a NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender that the missus had from a holiday which didn't work with my Unifi AC access point at all.

The worse interference comes from devices that are on the same ring-main but interference may also come from other nearby sources such as in neighbouring properties. Still affected by internet bandwidth on main connection. The TP link powerline/Wi-Fi extender worked straight away and required no configuration at all - just plug and play.

My WiFi connection was down into the kgbs. The signal strength is very good and the speed is good for calls, but I would invest in something more substantial if you are looking for hire download and transfer speeds. Plug and play. I think I'll be buying an extender for the other room on the far side of the house.
