We are here to put the sleep back into sleepovers, and to enable the best family adventures because everyone has a great night’s sleep wherever you go. Our oak slabs are then seasoned in a climate-controlled barn - the largest of its kind in the world - before they are planed and hand-selected by a member of our team, ready for machining. This bed requires a standard continental single mattress measuring 90 x 190 cm, available separately. When the wood arrives at the sawmill in North Devon it begins a delicate maturation process of no less than five years - taking it from felled tree to individual slabs ready for machining. The felled trees are sorted and sawn by Tom, with nothing going to waste - a beam from the heartwood core, slabs from the sapwood exterior, and woodchip from the inner bark which is used to heat their seasoning kiln. NB: It is recommended for all elevated beds that the maximum depth of any mattress for the top bunk is 15 cm. Until we deliver it to you, that is. We’re proud to say that the timber used in your Devon Oak bed has never left Devon.
