Antique Villa - Wise Owl One Hour Enamel Paint
Our first paint and certainly what we are most famous for is highly porous, rich in colour and perfect to use with our range of decorative products. Lightly abrade any silk, satin or glossy painted surfaces before painting over. Bare or porous surfaces will require sealing with 1829 All Purpose White Undercoat. Truly highlighting “The Charm of Chalk”, Autentico Vintage Furniture Paint is the master class. This quick cure formula knocks out projects in record time. Whilst every effort is made to achieve colour accuracy for our online swatches, differences between display screens means colour accuracy cannot be guaranteed. - Do NOT use clear shellac as a primer with One Hour Enamel!
- Do not use Wax over Enamel.
- Use our Stain Eliminating Primer before for superior adhesion.
- Do not overwork.
- Lay down enough paint so that it has enough product to self-level but avoid drips.
- The recommended recoat time is 2 hours.
- It will cause the paint to crackle.

I was in no rush as I find it quite therapeutic and this is a job that was started at 8 o'clock at night when the kids were settled. I ordered the Rust-oleum furniture paint in clotted cream and it is perfect! After deodorising the musty old drawers (with bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar) and sanding the whole chest, I applied wood dye to the top followed by Danish oil. It was scratched, scribbled on (from when my children were toddlers) and had yellowed over the years - and I was completely sick of the sight of it.

The coverage is absolutely brilliant and it goes straight onto most surfaces without having to prime or sand. it goes on easy but can leave some brush strokes if you're not careful, touch dry in an hour but ready for a second coat in 4 hours. I put 2-3 coats on it but touched it up in places as it soaks into the wood if it's bare and can need more than 2 coats to give an even finish. Is it meant too be like that?

The finished is lovely and it's very easy to distress the paint. However, I didn’t want the expense of replacing it with a new chest nor the hassle of assembling one, so I decided to upcycle the chest with this Rustoleum chalky furniture paint and replacement antique brass knobs.
