It is my thinking that this snapping was due to the initial separation of the plastic ring which allowed the arm near the base to bend more than it should which led to the eventual failure of the joint. In my case, I trialed it in the likely position for it to be used.

It also wobbles, a fair bit. It has to be somewhat tough, so don’t be surprised.

My wife is an Artist and will likely use it when I am not away. This one is perfect and I’m certain will last. The neck is very stiff and hard to adjust, but that’s fine, there’s no way it’ll hold the weight of the iPad otherwise.

It easily holds the weight of my heavy phone, though if I touch my phone while its in the holder, the phone wobbles. Adjusting it for the first time is the hardest but once you get the hang of it it’s fairly easy, that said even with being quite delicate with it it’s finally snapped where the white smaller neck at the end and the longer sturdier black neck meet, it looked to have crumbled away on the inside, I’m not sure whether 5 months is a long enough lifespan but I have used it constantly so I can’t rate too low, I’d still recommend it as I don’t see any others being much better but I may have to give a new one a try!

If it fails or weakens before the Amazon return window is closed, I will be returning it and updating this review. Used this product as a way to hold my Samsung tab A as a third monitor. I don’t have a headboard on my tiny single bed but luckily have a little bedside table that I’ve mounted it on it, and it’s on pretty solid. I initially tried attaching it to my lamp (pictured) but the clamp wasn’t grippy enough and it’d just angle down, although it didn’t come off all together.

However, where it struggles is the more obvious, traditional upright and landscape position like a second monitor. I see more benefits from it moving forward, but realistically I can’t think of much wilder than my own or others mentioned.

If it sags/droops over the course of, let’s say 2hrs - that’s still a pretty good outcome, I would say! I cannot stress this enough to the designers! The gooseneck is stiff but I didn't see this as a negative, when adjusting just hold the clamp while moving it.
