I gobbled it up in a couple of days and now cannot wait to read more by @writerclairefuller ! This group of five volunteers cannot allow anyone into the building but food is running short and tempers are fraying. Ensuing events have echoes of our reality, told through realistic sci-fiction, and some horrific details. The story was her story and the outside world was revealed in snippes as only she saw it.

This book really surprised me. Here there are parallels with the her father's kidney disease and the role she plans in his fight for survival.

Right off the first scene we jump into the action. The world is ending in an eerily similar, yet more terrifying COVID scenario and the narrator has just signed up for a human vaccine trial.

The inclusion of periodic letters by Neffy to "H" depict her relationship with the octopus she cared for while working as an aquarist pre-pandemic. A highly recommended read for people who love human stories and thinking "how would I react in that situation? ! Heartily recommended.

A group of people, including narrator Neffy, arrive at a London scientific clinic where experimentation with a virus and possible vaccine begin. The entire story held me captive with it's imaginative setting and lyrical prose, my first experience of Claire Fuller's writing and I definitely want more. Utterly adorable.
