I didn’t mind, but if you’re going for blonde the purple shampoo will be key (purple shampoo is also gradual so you can control how cool/ashy you want the color). I’m pregnant and wanted to change my hair color (lighten for summer) but obviously can’t go to a salon right now- so I tried this and it was amazing!

I was in Mexico for 8 days and i came home considerably blonder than I left. ) I didn’t take a true before picture, but you can see the dark roots and silver hairs in the first picture and the highlighted roots in the second. Thanks, Beach Bum!

I started by doing an all over application for the first one, then for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th application I’ve focused on just doing pieces to get a more highlighted effect (vs all over blonde). Picture represents my (virgin/no bleach/no dye) hair lifting after 3 “treatments” with the Beach Bum spray. As you can probably see, the color looks different in indoor lighting.

I was thinking that the main ingredient was lemon juice upon purchasing, but it’s definitely hydrogen peroxide— hence the brassiness. The part that began to worry me was that it was slightly brassy (more noticeable when it was wet) and once your hair dries with the spray on it, it makes it look and feel incredibly dry (especially in the desert heat and zero humidity). I also enjoy the smell, it’s beach and not too strong. I would definitely recommend getting a blue/purple shampoo as well, the red tones are the last to lighten (in any highlighting process) so I was looking very strawberry blonde before using the purple shampoo.
