I bought this lens primarily for sports photography and in no way has it disappointed. I have used this lens at the dirt bike track, auto racing track, and drag strip, and it has performed admirably every time. 8 just wasn't long enough.
I had been using my Canon 100-400 but it was jus too slow, though I like the reach it afforded me for times when the Canon 70-200 f/2. 4x extender for my trip out to Laguna Seca for the Moto GP, so I'll report back with how the lens responds to the extender. I just put in a rental order for the Sigma 1. My guess is that it will be just fine.
I have taken my best pics with this lens; the creamy bokeh this lens creates is just gorgeous; its also fast and accurate and I get gorgeous results reliably. So I took a shot on this beauty since it was much more affordable than the Canon equivalent and haven't regretted it for a second.
