Having eventually sorted the wiring, the Honeywell thermostat is perfect for my house. So I put the BLUE wire in box-3 (actual wiring in picture 4). I needed a replacent front as mine got damaged .

ST, wiring diagram, where wire-4 (BLUE) has a resistance icon (actual wiring in picture 1). Picture 2 shows the original thermostat, Model PRT100. Delivered in a plain cardboard boxIndide the box the theostat unit and fixings .

This configuration blew the fuse. Have a look at the wiring diagrams, though, and understand why you can't trust wiring information. On swapping the Honeywell Yellow and Blue wires (no picture for this), the thermostat works perfectly. Installation was simple .

5SB, it's wire-3 that has the resistance. Well priced at just over £21 happily recommending In picture 3, the Honeywell ML1. Not so!
