About this deal
By Valerie Solanas
Valerie Solanas, the woman who shot Andy Warhol, self-published the book just before she became a notorious household name and was confined to a mental institution. “To see the SCUM Manifesto’s humor, to let it crack you up page after page, is not to read it as a joke. In fact, the work has proved prescient, not only as a radical feminist analysis light years ahead of its time—predicting artificial insemination, ATMs, a feminist uprising against underrepresentation in the arts—but also as a stunning testament to the rage of an abused and destitute woman. ” —Michelle Tea Humor such as this is a muscle, a weapon… It was the truth, and the truth is so absurd it’s painful. First circulated on the streets of Greenwich Village in 1967, the SCUM Manifesto is a searing indictment of patriarchal culture in all its forms. Outrageous and violent, SCUM Manifesto was widely lambasted when it first appeared in 1968. ” —Valerie Solanas
“Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to women, there remains to civic-minded, responsible, thrill-seeking females only to overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation, and destroy the male sex.

I have no regrets. I first learned of Valerie on American Horror Story and thought she was a made up character. I found her so interesting that I googled just to be sure and when I found out I could actually read her manifesto, I ordered it immediately.
Honestly, this book is hilarious and I enjoy sending excerpts to my male friends.
