Not only are the recipes good, he explains a lot of things either along the way or in dedicated spots in the book. " When I started with my girlfriend's, I was just starting to branch out in my cooking last year, and it was an excellent guide. I got it for my birthday; I had been using my girlfriend's first edition. The best Cookbook I own.

Now that I have gained more experience with both cooking and baking, Bittman's book is even more enjoyable. I'm always telling my girlfriend, "Bittman, don't fail me now.
