The commonly used buttons (volume, select left/right, favourites, alarm) straddle the screen which means you obscure the screen when you want to adjust stations/alarms etc. Re the battery, I inserted it at the beginning and let it charge. It would solve all of the above!

The radio did exactly what the instructions said it would do. . The media could not be loaded.
