They fold nicely up under the frame when not in use, and are easy to extend and retract as needed! The front ones are perfect in stabilizing the trailer when parked, taking some of the load off of the tongue/hitch. I initially purchased one set of 4 jacks as a direct replacement for the 3 similar ones on our pop-up camper. So far, so good!

Mounting to the frame was definitely the best way to go, and for winter storage of the camper, I even extend all 4 jacks enough to prop the tires completely off of the ground - I bought 4 more bolts to fit into the holes on the stand extensions to keep them from slipping due to the extra weight of snow. Also, I do the same with these in the winter - use them to prop the trailer up so the tires are off of the ground. The back ones are a bit long for this particular trailer, but when the front end is down far enough, they do have just enough room to swing out and provide extra stability when loading something heavy - prevents the entire trailer from tipping up backwards!
