This item is perfect for a multitude of reasons:- Breathing life back into an old PSP for nostalgic reasons or playing PSP games catalogue. - Storing tons and tons of Video, Music and Image files.
It is compatible with all PSP models from the original PSP 1000 model to the PSP 3000 model. I'm using the adapter with a SanDisk Extreme 128GB Micro SDXC Card, it's very overkill as the PSP can't benefit from all the speed. - Playing backups of legally owned games (preventing wear on UMD laser).
The issue is that the longer your list of: game saves, game files, apps, music, videos, images etc, the longer it takes the PSP to load with all of that stuff on it. The adapter itself worked straight away and has been fault free, requiring no setup, configuration etc it simply is plug and play. My adapter arrived early and does exactly what it says on the tin. The aim was to use it for loading custom firmware on my PSP, allowing me to store: my homebrew files and apps, my game saves and even entire UMD rips as well as videos and music.
However this isn’t required for use and literally makes no difference to the experience. There is no other negative impact aside from that. Note: It’s important to note that the adapter doesn’t use Sony’s proprietary MagicGate copy-protection encryption technology.
- Homebrewing. I have a 128gb card and even with it half full, it takes my games list a solid 6-8 seconds or so to load.
