The weight of the bag puts just enough tension on the spring so it separates a hair at rest, and then still has enough springiness to take the force off the ceiling joists when hitting the bag around. The spring is absolutely heavy duty. Super quality able to withstand pounding the bag plus the bag shown in the picture is 100lbs.

! Still thinking of getting rid of the stand and using a ceiling mount but that has nothing to do with the springs they do their job great! I taped the chains for added 'silence'.

What an amazing, cheap to add item to the punching bag. Much needed if you got a heavy punch bag. Takes the bounce, movement and noise out of the bag which is about 110 pounds. Highly recommend spring.

This is commercial quality stuff you need. I live in a Japanese house in a quiet, residential neighbourhood so 'quiet' is the key word. The media could not be loaded.

I'm also using paracord (about 4 or 5mm x 50cm length) to tie it to the wall mount (double half hitch knot looped round the spring ring and wall mount ring three or four times). Very satisfied. Much better than without the spring. Once I bought these 4 springs and put 50lbs on each eight peg for the stand POOF!

You can only hear the impact of strikes on the bag. And it does eliminate the shaking. I bought this spring hoping to stop the pounding and shaking of the joist caused from hitting the bag. I no longer hear rattling from the garage door opener when punching or kicking the bag.
