He takes as the basis for his story the idea of manipulation, conspiracy theories. We just didn’t know the half of it!
I learnt from it, for sure, how ‘insiders’ wield power, how big money talks, and how a crazed theory can be believed by millions. Edge’s narrative satirises the power of the influencers, of Twitter (and other like platforms), of greed.
This theory is actually, amazingly to any educated person, held by many contemporaries. Using believable characters - many based on true life persons - who wish to create a global/worldwide belief - in this case - that the earth is flat, in his story they almost succeed. The story rolls along excitingly, amusingly (Edge’s trademark is his use of humour), gaining momentum until the end which we as readers have anticipated from the beginning.
