within the first few pages I knew this was my kind of book. Once I got past those chapters I quickly began to “have” to get to the next chapter and then the next to find out what was happening. Highly recommended Devon is my favourite place and I loved recognising place names and descriptions throughout the book.

Full of twists and turns from start to finish that I really enjoyed reading. I am a loyal fan of my favourite authors be it thrillers or romance and as my time for reading is limited I often return to authors who are easy to read and engaging, however, time from the time I give a go to new authors to find my new favourites.

Good read that has you intrigued. This book, which I read in this series. This book works as a stand alone even though part two of a series. I thought the book started slowly and was a little disjointed at first, with lots of characters introduced very quickly, but once I got past the first few chapters, I was hooked and finished the book in a couple of days (snatching moments to read whenever the kids didn’t need me).

However, she progresses throughout the book. I really like how Sarah flits from different peoples perspectives in the story from Detective Ellen to Hana. One of the POV dropped away rather and didn't have a complete story arch for me.

Dan Thornton

The perfect dose of Sarah Pearse to keep you going after the Sanatorium! The pace of the first few chapters is very slow. Detective Elin Warner is a character that I really warmed to, as she strives to solve the mysterious deaths of two guests at the retreat.
