Using an easy up canopy is easier to put up, but canopies take up a lot of space in your car and are heavy. Nancy

The wind blew hard all night, and the poles were in still place the next morning. Yes they are not the cheapest ones on Amazon. The wind was blowing 30 to 40 mph, and it rained an inch in one hour.

). I was afraid they would blow over with my set up.

I will continue to use the tarp setup because I can change the size of my tarp at anytime and it looks rustic. While I can’t speak for all brands, I can tell you that the Green Elephant poles perform exactly as they are intended to perform. While the highly rated tarp that I purchase had grommets that ripped out from the wind, these polls didn’t go anywhere.

These poles are superior to the chintzy ones with the round metal clips. That said. However, I used lots of bungees and stakes. The nicest surprise was the three sections that when collapsed, resulted in a nice small package for stowing.

Then I hammered long spikes (tent stakes) beside them and connected them with reusable tie wraps. Although the price is high, these are great poles and worth the money in my opinion. And they indeed do go from short to quite long. On my previous tent trailer I attached loops to the built-in poles for the awning.
