Lana used to play lots of fun games with her brother Harrison. But since starting high school all he ever does is study.
My bookworm life
Lana was a really great main character here and I loved how the dynamic was with her brother too especially how they came together at the end. It has lots of humour and even some darker tones so I think there is something that lots of readers can enjoy in this one. This was honestly so much fun to read. This whole story just made me smile so much, when I was younger I got given a chunky Grimms fairytales book which I still have, and I would sit up in bed and just love being in the adventures within the pages, and this just took me right back to that.

When a huge supermarket seems to appear overnight in their town, Lana takes a trip there with her mother and soon after discovers a magical portal in the sweets aisle that will send her into real fairy stories. Enjoyed the production quality of the book. This is my first book by Ben Miller but I am definitely going to read more soon.

I really liked the illustrations and also the way the pages of the fairytale book that was being read in the story was formatted here with the font choice and the floral border. Highly recommend making a cup of tea (or whatever you like) and settling down to read a cosy and fun middle grade because it’s just such a lovely reading experience.
