5 year old to build with. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is they do take a long time to put together, make sure you give yourself a couple of hours for that! While these aren't exactly the same, they are pretty close -- close enough that it really doesn't matter.

The preschoolers always loved these blocks! We have been keeping these on the bottom two shelves of a book shelf. These Melissa and Doug blocks are something I have always wanted for my kids,but never bought. My son love these blocks!
