This story is so wonderfully constructed and it gave me The Land of Stories vibes in the best way! This book is a whirlwind of charming imagination and delightfully strange characters in whose pages I was delighted to get lost.

I would highly recommend for kids and kids at heart, Lapinski has written a real gem! (also I was so desperate to join the agency that I got myself a Strangeworlds pin 😁) I've already pre-ordered the second book and I need to get my hands on a time traveling device so I can get it now and devour it ! I loved the premise of this story, a travel agency that wasn’t quite what it seemed to be. The revelation that this travel agency, with its stacks of strange bartered suitcases, is full of doorways to marvellous other worlds turns Flick’s quiet world upside down.

This is a testament to the author’s magnificent ability to write complex characters with compassion no matter what they experience. When Stephen King said that books are portable magic, this is EXACTLY what he meant.

Their budding friendship and self-discovery is a joy to watch unfold. Flick and Jonathan are lovable, charming, layered guides on this adventure through the multiverse. Children and adult readers alike will be captivated by the webs woven— and dying to know where the threads lead in book two, because there’s plenty of teasing hints running off into the horizon.

Each of the worlds encased within this story-suitcase are brimming with lush magical backdrops and visual feasts for the imagination — once you’re in, it’s impossible to step back out. The story is a Far Away Tree for older readers, imaginative, spellbindingly exciting and leaving me sat at the end desperately excited for another world to explore.
