It's silent 90% of the time, but when all 3 fans are running it can sound like it's trying to take off. Running a 4790k with all things being equal these are my Firestrike scores:770 7108970 9966 ( no cpu or gpu overclocking )970 11303 ( cpu and max stable gpu overclock )1070 15171 ( no cpu or gpu overclock and with monitoring software running )Its also quieter than the 970, at 1080p the fans aren't even kicking in during some gaming.

We would all be happier if they were cheaper but they are not so you have to pay up or go without. Replaced an Asus Strix GTX970.

2 drive for the OS, 2 SSDs in striped RAID, 64GB of memory and an AMD 1800X process means the benchmarking scores on several different models come out in the top 3% of all other tests. Aesthetically pleasing too (love the RGB LEDs).

Wticher 3 ~ 55 FPS ( Very good experience even under 60 FPS , even if the game ran sometimes at 45 fps , it was still a VERY nice experience)Overwatch ~ 140 FPS ( This is the only game that i had to change the settings from Very high to Ultra since it was not at the highest settings and i knew the game was gonna run on 100+ fps on those settings)CS:GO ~ 400 ( On the highest settings i had to change the limit of 300 FPS cap to unlimited ( fps_max 0 ) to be able to see the amount of frames i would get , so that blew me away since i couldn't get over 200 with the 750 TI on mid-high settings )Redout ~ ? Great graphics card for the price.

Use the disk provided and everything just works as it should. Runs very cool, I haven't seen it go above 66c on full load overclocked even when running benchmarks. I like Asus, I trust their products and so far they haven't let me down. I got this GeForce STRIX-GTX1080-A8G as new at £347, you may find a better deal on eBay but choose amazon just for peace of mind, for the card good performance good overclocking headroom, straight to 2100mhz/5500mhz vram no issue, I actually under volt the card to 0.

Sound : when not on load you can't even hear it , its starts being a little bit loud over 50% but not noticeable when i had my Headphones on my head with the game sounds , i tested turning the fans to 100% in MSI Afterburner and it sounds like an helicopter xD (My fan curve % was just taking the temperature and setting it as the fan% so at 56% the fans ran at 56% so it never got over 60% since the max temp was 60) ,FPS : ALL GAMES AT 1080p AND Geforce optimized (all the games were at a combination of Very High and Ultra ) -GTA 5 ~ 100FPS ( Game ran very smoothly,no shutters or frame drops never got under 70 fps even when very fast action was taking place in the middle of the city). Its a bigger jump from the 970 to the 1070 than it was from the 770 to the 970. I'm not discussing if the GTX1060 its better or not them the RX480, its hardly debatable and you can find hours of tests and benchmarks on Youtube.
