Educators: you need this book so that you can adapt the way you engage with learners and understand that the way autistic people learn may look different to the way their non-autistic peers learn, but is no less valid and useful. Untypical brought me on a journey that was so unexpected in its ability to help me understand what is probably only a fraction of what it's like to be an autistic person in a neurotypical world. Pete shares his experiences in a witty, funny and informative manner and I would highly recommend it. Parents, partners, family members and friends: you need this book so that you can recognise, understand, accept and celebrate the different ways in which the autistic humans in your life think and exist, and so you can begin to realise that you have a responsibility in adapting and adjusting too, rather than expecting your autistic humans to do all the work.
